Dora Sharpe

Surrounded by family, Dora passed away Sunday afternoon April 30, 2017 at the Stettler Health Center at the age of 97. She was born Dorathea Maria Anna Repp in Groz Nossin, Germany on December 28, 1919 to Walter and Luise (Paschke) Repp. In 1924 the family including brother Ervin and sister Hilda with Fred and Mina Paschke and their three children set sail for Canada settling in Red Willow. She attended classes at Up To Date country school before moving into Stettler. She had various jobs in town over the years, Sims Furniture, Jimmy's Hardware and McLeod's.

In 1945 Dora married Clarence Sharpe and they had 4 children: Anna, Gary, Connie and Allen. Along with their Paschke cousins they enjoyed making music and playing for dances it the area. She had a green thumb; always planted a large garden and the canning shelves were filled by fall. When the children were mostly raised she started her love of camping and was still spending time at the Buffalo Lake in her trailer into her nineties. She loved to paint and do ceramics and most of us have at least one of her pieces. Playing cards, especially crib and games were also a passion. Her home was always the gathering place for family.

Dora moved into Willow Creek Lodge in 2002 and then Paragon Place in 2003 until her stroke made it impossible to return to there in March of 2017. She enjoyed her years at Paragon and continued to drive her truck well into her nineties. She enjoyed travelling and loved going to the coast, her trips to the southern states with Gary and an Alaskan cruise with Connie.

Dora was the last of those original 10 that came from Germany. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Luise Repp, daughter Anna Quast 1998, brother Ervin Repp in 2012, sister Hilda Holst 2011, son Allen Sharpe 2013, and grandson Kenny Sharpe 2013. She will be forever missed by son Gary (Sheila) Sharpe, daughter Connie (Innes) Bosomworth, daughter-in-law Elaine Sharpe; sister-in-law Rosemary Repp; grandchildren: Laurie, Dixie and Rick Quast, Robert Sharpe, Darrell (Teresa) and Darrin (Letitia) Bosomworth, Gordon Sharpe, Connie-Anne (Jamie) Devinich and Murray (Crystal) Sharpe; 15 great- grandchildren and 9 great- great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other family and many dear friends.
