Archie Smith passed away on August 14, 2017 in Stettler,

Alberta at the age of 85 years and 10 days. Archie was born on August 4, 1932 in Stettler, Alberta to parents Mary and Thomas Smith. He was raised on a farm north of Erskine and attended Liberal School. Baseball, bowling, trapping, hunting and fishing were Archie's passions as a young man and he continued to play ball until the age of 80; an excellent player of crib added to his many talents. He was a National Champion bowler, excelled in the game of golf and thoroughly enjoyed all rodeos. Archie was a talented singer and in his early years he had a passion for acting as well. Archie was employed by the County of Stettler for approximately 25 years. He also farmed for several years on the Savage farm.

Archie was predeceased by his four brothers: Harold, Bill, Dewey and Ray; two sisters Bess and Marge and special lifelong friend Gertie Savage. Archie is survived by his loving family: sister Nellie Wells, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, all of Gertie Savage's family and many dear friends.

A funeral service for the late Archie Smith was held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta with Reverend Barbara Lieurance officiating. Archie was laid to rest in the Liberal Cemetery, County of Stettler.
