Weather alerts issued for Stettler, Ponoka, Red Deer

Environment Canada has released a weather alert for parts of central Alberta.

Environment Canada has released a weather alert for parts of central Alberta.

Issued at 3:18 p.m., a sever thunderstorm warning is in effect for Ponoka County and area, while alerts are also being issued for Red Deer and Stettler.

The storm, currently located west of Maskwacis, is tracking east at around 25 km/h, according to the release.

Noted in the release are comments on the damage that large hail and strong winds can cause, as well as the reccommendation of staying in doors during a lighting storm.
