The Heartland Youth Centre (HYC) is celebrating another successful Bowl for Kids, which took place on March 8.

According to HYC executive director Winnie Bissett in an early April interview, the annual fundraiser has raised over $20,000 for the municipality’s venerable institution with more funds to come in.

2024 marked the 34th year for the Bowl for Kids, making it “one of the longest-running fundraisers in Stettler,” according to Bissett.

The theme for 2024 was pirates, with everyone taking part participating in the theme in some way, whether it be something simple like just wearing a “pirate-like” eye patch or dressing in full costume.

Bissett says that the Bowl for Kids is a great fundraiser because “it doesn’t take a lot of time.”

Youth started the bowling fundraiser in the afternoon, and business teams took over bowling well into the evening.

Over 25 different businesses and organizations took part in the 2024 event.

The Bowl for Kids is one of two major fundraisers hosted by the HYC every year.

Next up is the HYC Awesome Auction Fun-raiser, which is taking place on June 1.

Tickets for the event include dinner, silent and live auctions and dance, all prepared and hosted by volunteers.

The theme for the 2024 event is “Vintage Vegas” and tickets are available at the youth centre.
