Everyone is coming to the movie, right? It is this Monday, 7 p.m. at the Jewel Theater. “Lucky” is Harry Dean Stanton’s (Twin Peaks, Alien, Pretty in Pink) final movie performance before his death in September, 2017. The movie follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off-the-map desert town. This movie is rated Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door the night of the showing.
I also have some great news about our March Film Circuit movie. We are pleased to be showing “Lady Bird” on Monday March 5 at 7 pm. Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mom (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird’s father (Tracy Letts) loses his job. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home. This movie is nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.
Saturday February 10 is packed full of a tonne of great programming at the Stettler Public Library. Starting at 12 noon is the monthly Beginner Super Smash Bros Tournament. This is a great program for kids ages 5 to 12.
Then at 1:30 pm you have your pick of two programs. First off we will be showing the great Olympic movie classic “Cool Runnings” and, of course, popcorn will be served. Then while the kids are watching the movie, come join Crystal’s Crochet Club. I’m thinking that we will get started on a blanket to keep us warm. You can stop by and see me before then because I have a wonderful selection of easy blanket patterns to choose from.
If Super Smash Bros. once a month isn’t enough, come and join us for Gamerz on Tuesdays and Thursday at 4 pm. Do you love PC gaming such as Minecraft, League of Legends, or Roblox? Come and check us out at the Stettler Public Library!
