It is only a few weeks until the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea and I’m so excited to see what is in store of the Canadian Olympic Team! The Stettler Public Library is getting into the action for the month of February. Check out some of the Olympic programming that we have going on. Go Canada Go!

Our Olympic celebrations start on Friday February 2 at 1 p.m. when we start with what everyone needs to cheer on Canada properly: an Olympic Flag. Create your own Olympic flag celebrating our Canadian athletes. Everyone welcome!

Our Kids’ Cooking Club is back on Saturday February 3 at 10:30 when the kids ages 6 and up get to create the perfect Olympic food: a Torch Snack. Spaces are limited so please pre-register by calling us at 403-742-2292.

Also if you need somewhere to watch the Winter Olympics, why not come to the Stettler Public Library. Our TV will be tuned to the Pyeongchang Olympics every day from February 9 to 25. Go Canada Go!

What would a new year be like without Pokémon? Well, we don’t have to find out because the Pokémon Swap Meet is back on Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 a.m. Meet with your friends to play, battle and trade your valuable Pokémon cards.

Also on Saturday January 27 is the monthly Super Smash Bros. Advanced Player Tournament. This is for all ages who think that they are the best at playing Super Smash Bros. Challenge your friends and come down to the library at 12 p.m. for some Super Smash fun.

If Super Smash Bros. once a month isn’t enough, come and join us for Gamerz on Tuesdays and Thursday at 4 pm. Do you love PC gaming such as Minecraft, League of Legends, or Roblox? Come and check us out at the Stettler Public Library!

Put Monday February 5 at 7 p.m. on your calendar right away because it is the night of our tiff Film Circuit movie for February. “Lucky” is Harry Dean Stanton’s (Twin Peaks, Alien, Pretty in Pink) final movie performance before his death in September 2017. The movie follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off-the-map desert town. This movie is rated Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door the night of the showing.
