It was a great day for a run on Saturday morning, Sept. 24 as the 2.5k-run participants hit the road at 10 a.m., followed shortly after at 10:30 a.m. by the 5k-runners, all in an effort to fundraise for the Stettler Health Services Foundation (SHSF).

“The run is an excellent way to engage and update the community as to the progress of the SHSF in our campaign goals,” said Greggory Jackson, County of Stettler representative on the SHSF board for six years now. “We also wish to encourage families to be active and live healthy lifestyles.”

According to Jackson, the 2.5- and 5k-fun run was a great way for all ages to participate in raising funds and awareness about the SHSF.

There were approximately 40 runners and walkers, who collectively raised around $2,000.

“This money will be added to our ‘Affair of the Heart’ fundraising campaign,” Jackson said. “Funds are all earmarked for the future purchase of equipment and enhancement of health services in the Stettler community.”

Jackson also added that the continued success of events in Stettler are a testament to the unwavering support from the local community.

“The SHSF relies on donations and funds raised through events to ensure that our local health services and facility continues to serve all the residents of East Central Alberta,” said Jackson. “A vibrant and healthy community will grow and benefit everyone as the essential services we all value will remain available locally.”
