Well, after another nasty week of weather, this week promises to be a little warmer which will be great for man and animal alike and we have all settled into winter chores and winter fun.

The Rumsey Drop-in is hosting a Coyote Derby this coming Saturday as a fundraiser and would encourage all our good hunters to sign up for a day of fun. You can contact me at 403-368-3820 or mpsteen83@gmail.com for a registration form. We will have a last chance registration night on Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is a one day hunt starting a half hour before sunrise on Saturday morning and will be over a half hour after sunset on Saturday evening then join us at the drop-in for a chili supper with all the hunters and friends of the drop-In on Saturday night and see who has earned the bragging rights for 2018’s hunt. There will be prizes for the most coyotes brought in by Saturday evening.

As you may have noticed the lunch counter schedules are out for the 2018 curling season. If you didn’t get one, please contact Lori Cawiezel as she is our new concession coordinator, also there will be a schedule posted on the bulletin board in the post office and I will have a copy at the library. If you are unable to make your shift please help the kitchen to keep going by finding a replacement for you or contact Lori. The men’s bonspiel starts on January 22 with oyster night on Thursday, January 25 and the banquet on Saturday, January 27. Come and enjoy some great curling and good meals at the rink. If you are interested in signing up for the ladies bonspiel - February 7 to 10; mixed doubles – February 22 – 24; mixed bonspiel – March 4 – 10; contact Brooks and Jackie Watts at 403-820-5451 or 403-368-2357.

The Camrose Bull Congress is on again next week and our 4-H Beef kids are heading up on January 22 to partake in the Judging competition with other 4-H groups from the area. Good luck to the Richmond girls, Vanessa, Meah and Cadynce, Ryley and Brady Mappin, Blake Stoneman, and Zoe Avramenko. Just Brett and Amanda Holowath are unable to make it this year.

Here’s a little marketing joke for those of you who admire creative wording:

An inter-office softball game was held once every year between the marketing and support staff of a company. The support staff whipped the marketing department soundly.

To show just how the marketing department earns their keep, they posted this memo on the bulletin board after the game:

“The Marketing Department is pleased to announce that for the 2017 Softball Season, we came in 2nd place, having lost but one game all year. The Support Department, however, had a rather dismal season, winning only one game.” Have a great week!
