Stettler RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in finding a missing Stettler-area teen, Myles Eagle Plume.

The 15-year-old left his home east of Stettler on Aug. 5, and has not been home since. Police are looking to confirm Eagle Plume's whereabouts and his well-being.

Stettler detachment commander, Sgt. Phil Penny, said the reason why police waited so long to reach out to the public about Eagle Plume's absence from home is to try and make contact with him through other venues, like friends or family.

"You try other things first," Penny said, noting that when there aren't suspicious circumstances or abduction worries in a teen's absence from home, following up with friends and family first often can resolve the matter.

In Eagle Plume's case, the teen has been in sporadic communication with friends, which indicates the youth is likely in the Calgary area.

Eagle Plume is an Aboriginal teen, six-foot-two-inches tall, and weighs about 260 pounds. His hair is described as black and shaggy. He wears glasses.

The RCMP are requesting that anyone with information about the whereabouts of Myles Eagle Plume contact the Stettler RCMP at 403-742-3382, or anonymously phone Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Police encourage Eagle Plume to attend a local RCMP detachment in order to assist in determining his well-being.
