The Battle River Generating Station, located between Halkirk and Forestburg along the Battle River, is offline following an incident on April 21.

Representatives from Atco confirmed that the company is investigating following reported damage to a high-pressure natural gas pipeline 15 kilometres south of Forestburg,

“We can confirm that the pipeline has been secured and isolated,” said Kurt Kadatz, the Atco director of Corporate Communications.

“There are no injuries, and work is ongoing to repair the damaged line. The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority. “

Kadatz confirmed that Atco is currently working with energy regulators and partners to conduct repairs and get the line reactivated.

In a separate email, representatives from Heartland Generation, who currently operates the generating site, confirmed that the power plant is not producing power while repairs are ongoing.
