RCMP believe a man who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and who has evaded arrest for two decades may be somewhere in Alberta.

Rupert William Burr, 55, lived in Prince George B.C., where he allegedly committed multiple sexual offences.

The investigation that led to Burr started in 1993, and resulted in a warrant in 1998, but Burr had vanished.

He was born in Alberta in 1961, and police believe he may have lived in Worsley as recently as last year. They also believe he knows he is wanted by police, and thus is using a false name. Worsley is about 850 km northwest of Stettler, in the Peace River area.

In 1998, Burr was described as a Caucasian man of six feet, weighting 221 pounds. He has green eyes, brown hair, and had scars on his left wrist and across the bridge of his nose.

Anyone with information about Burr can phone Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
