The Big Valley Children’s Christmas Party Committee would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the following for their support in making the 2017 Big Valley Children’s Christmas Party a huge success: Alberta Prairie Steam Tours, Bearspaw Petroleum Ltd., Big Valley Community Hall, Big Valley Historical Society, Big Valley Drop In Centre, Big Valley Elks, Big Valley Royal Canadian Legion, Big Valley Royal Purple, Contact Safety Service Ltd., County Of Stettler No. 6, Hivernant Métis Cultural Society, Village of Big Valley FCSS, Waste Management, Bill and Suzanne Bloomquist, Mr. Dan Clarke, Mrs. Margaret Levesque, Mr. Raymond McCrindle, Alyssa and John Nafziger and Mrs. Jean Ross.

Special thanks to Rosco the Clown for the fun entertainment, to Santa for stopping by, to Stefan and Chantel for the great pictures, and to our elves, Pat and Lorne Parkin and Bill Smillie for all their help. The Children’s Christmas Party had the best turn-out ever and everyone had a wonderful time.

Ten players came out for crib at the Big Valley Inn on Sunday, Jan. 14. Doug Harrold was first, Gladys McLeod was second, Lawrence Wilkie was third and Teresa Greig won the booby. Stan Nattestad won the regular draw. The Big Valley Inn Crib players meet every Sunday at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

The Big Valley Drop In Centre’s first community pancake supper of 2018 will be on Monday, Jan. 22 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Come on out to enjoy a great meal and the opportunity to catch up with friends and acquaintances in the community. Everyone is welcome.

The Big Valley Historical Society will be hosting a special event on Saturday, Mar. 3 to raise funds for repairs to the McAlister Motors building and the historic St. Edmund’s Church on the hill. Come join them at the Big Valley Jubilee Hall for an evening of good food and drinks and be entertained by the infamous country comedian/poet “Ol’Ugly”. Tickets for the event can be obtained from any Historical Society member and at the Bistro on the Boardwalk.
