Alcohol likely a factor in crash

The driver of a vehicle that sideswiped two before crashing into a ditch is recovering in Calgary Foothills hospital.

The driver of a vehicle that sideswiped two before crashing into a ditch is recovering in Calgary Foothills hospital after being airlifted by STARS air ambulance.

The vehicle was involved in a three-vehicle collision northwest of Stettler on Saturday, Sept. 24. Stettler RCMP attended the scene, along with Stettler Regional Fire and Rescue and Stettler EMS.

According to Stettler RCMP detachment commander, the investigation appears to indicate that that the driver of one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of highways 835 and 601, “sideswiping” two other vehicles before ending up in the ditch.

The investigation is ongoing, but according to Penny, “alcohol appears to be a factor.”
