With the new school year around the corner, Stettler Alliance Church hosted its annual Agape Shoes for Kids campaign on Wednesday, Aug. 17, when more than two dozen pairs of shoes were picked for kids by their parents.

"We blessed 29 children with the love of Jesus through the practical gift of a pair of shoes for school," said Julie Weeks, the main organizer for the campaign.

Last year there were 17 children who were able to get their school shoes through this campaign.

"People were very thankful," said Weeks. "There were some moms with tears in their eyes."

Weeks said that families shared stories of husbands who are out of work, or just how expensive this time of year is, and how much receiving free shoes help.

"The shoes were all donated by people in our church family," explained Weeks. On each shoe tag there were some Biblical quotes.

"We want people to know that they are welcome at Stettler Alliance Church anytime," added Weeks. "We still have more shoes if there are still people who need them," she added.
