On July 23, I attended the Shoot Out at the Stettler Airport. It was an excellent and entertaining event. Hats off to the organizers and participants. Every year, this spectacle continues to improve.
The organizers put on a safe, well-orchestrated event. I walked around and talked to participants from all around central Alberta. They commented that this is one of the premiere events for their hobby.
It was exciting to witness local drivers challenge their reaction and run times against one another. The burnouts, horse power, smell of burned rubber and even the loud rumble of fi nely tuned engines would get any car enthusiast’s adrenaline pumping.
Everywhere around the venue was evidence of our community’s support, from the airport itself (a perfect location), to the many people donating their time. Local service clubs and the Heartland Victims Services were represented, while our fi re department and EMW were on site. There were even some roller derby girls in attendance as well as many fans and spectators.
The Stettler Car Club members did themselves and our community proud.
I’m already looking forward to next year’s Shoot Out.
