The Rumsey Sports Days are coming up quick. They are planned for July 14 to 16, and it seems like a ways away now but time always goes too fast in the summer time.

We still have space for one more team if anyone is interested, give me a call at 403-368-3820. There will be lots of ball played of course but also hot pancake breakfasts each morning, roast beef supper on Saturday night, movie night at the hall on Friday night for all ages, with dance in the agriplex on Saturday night. The 2018 Morrin Grad class will be running the concession all weekend, even during the dance so there will be lots of good things to eat. Don’t forget to support them. It should be a fun weekend.

I hope everyone has been enjoying this bit of sunshine after the last downpour. I think I can finally take off the rubber boots when doing the chores.

Doreen Mappin will be hosting a bridal shower for her future daughter-in-law, Chelsea Minor, bride-elect to Cass, on June 24 starting at 1 p.m. at the farm and would love to see her Rumsey friends come up for the afternoon, so be sure to mark it on your calendar.

The Morrin grads are getting excited as they approach the final weeks of school. There will be exams to get completed but also their graduation ceremonies will be held at the end of the month, June 30, at the Rumsey Hall. We have quite a few Rumsey students graduating this year: Quinn Nelson, daughter of Melanie and Tracey Nelson; Levi Hampton, son of Alan and Gwen Hampton; Shelby Primrose, daughter of Tim and Betty Primrose; Shelbi Couturier, daughter to Terry and Sabrina Couturier; Kyra Gridley and Karson Gridley, daughters of Melanie and Randy Gridley; and Jamie Hussey, daughter of Jim Hussey and Elizabeth Wylie. The other grads from Morrin are Kayla Adams, Brayden Upton, Braydon Davidson, Nicole Sharpe, Kiara Flotten and Austin Charlton. At one point this class had the distinction of teaching three sets of twins! Also, there are quite a few ‘youngest in the family’ children within this class which also marks a milestone for those parents who will join the ‘empty-nesters’ club. Good luck to all the students as they work hard towards a promising future. Please let me know if I have missed a graduating student from our area.

The S.T.A.R.S ride is set for Sunday, August 13 down at the TL Bar Ranch. You can get your pledge sheets from Ernie Goddard and Mary Newton and start collecting now. It is such a good cause that it is easy to fill up a pledge sheet. There is a minimum of $20 in pledges required to go on the ride.

Have a great week!
