November a busy month at the library

STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- We have a packed few days here at the Stettler Public Library. Each day more packed than the last.

STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- We have a packed few days here at the Stettler Public Library. Each day more packed than the last. You can never say that it is dull here at the library.

First of all, we are going to honour all the soldiers that have risked or lost their lives in pursuit of our freedom with Poppy Art on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 1:30 p.m. Make the poppy the focus of your art and remember the sacrifice of our fallen soldiers.

The next day on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 1:30-4:30 p.m., we will take a look at what it was like to live during Second World War. "Remembering Through Food and Friendship" sees the kids baking and sharing chocolate treats using recipes from the 1940s.

If Pokémon is your life, join us for our monthly Pokémon Swap Meet on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Swap for cards that you need and then let's get ready to rumble!

The Stettler Public Library is so pleased to have author Elaine Gugin Maddex come to the library on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. to talk about her new book "Wise Woman's Manor." Elaine wanted to leave a legacy, so to speak, for her children and grandchildren to remember her by and this was the start of her first book "More Than a Wise Woman." She set out to write a "feel good" book, one that anyone could pick up and read and she brings you sweet, eccentric, widowed Tessy McGuigan of Ladyslipper, Saskatchewan. Come to the library for a wonderful afternoon of lively conversation, yummy refreshments and great company.

Saturday Nov. 19 is chock-full of events to keep everyone entertained. First of all, it is International Games Day and that means we will have video games, board games and tournaments. It is going to be incredible. A great way to spend the day at the library.

Maybe S.T.E.A.M. is more to your liking then we have that covered as well. We start out with building paper structures at 10:30 a.m. Can you build the world's tallest structure just using paper and tape? We are going to move on to different building materials found in your kitchen at 1:30 p.m. when we see if you can build the greatest building ever using, maybe, noodles?

Do not forget the Cookbook Club will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. This month's theme is a recipe of your choice. Add your favourite dish to the array of yumminess that can be found at this evening at the library. New members are always welcome.

The Stettler Public Library will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 so that we may never forget the sacrifices of our fallen.
