While the Christmas excitement builds, there are still some fun community activities planned.

Don’t miss this Saturday’s event, Skate with Santa, provided by Stettler Recreation Center and the Public Library. Start with story time at the library which the whole family will enjoy from 10 to 11 a.m.

Then there is a tonne of stuff happening from 11 am to 1 pm: skating in the arena with Klay the DJ; hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee, and treats provided by Stettler McDonald’s, and children can enjoy a craft at the library. From noon to 1 pm, Santa will visit to thrill little ones. Lastly, there’ll be Christmas movies playing at the library from 3 to 6 p.m., a perfect opportunity for parents to do some last-minute shopping.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Friends of the Library’s Christmas Wine Survivor fundraiser.

Dianne Hutton was the last person in the fishbowl, meaning she was the final survivor, winning 30 percent of the wine entered, a total of 29 bottles. Christmas Wine Survivor is one of the only times that being last means coming in first! Second and third place winners, Vicky Walstrom and Christa Cornelssen, each took home 20 percent of the wine or 19 bottles. Anna Tripp, Heather Seibel, and Christine Morris each received a tenth of the bottles (10 bottles). The Stettler Friends of the Library Society was the biggest winner, however, raising approximately $3,000, which will be used to fund the library’s children’s programs.

We so appreciate all those who participated and supported this wonderful fundraising endeavour that is so much fun! Watch for details about Christmas Wine Survivor 2024 coming in September/October next year.
