BOTHA BOOSTER -- Tomorrow night, Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m., head over and attend the annual Christmas concert at the Botha School. The parent council will be selling homemade goodies before and after the concert as a fundraiser and admittance to this special event is a cash donation at the door. The money goes towards the food bank to help out other people in our community that are in need. So please come on out and attend this special event. All the staff and students have worked so hard to make it a fantastic program for everyone to attend. The last day before Christmas break for the school is Tuesday, Dec. 20, with the holidays starting from Dec. 21 till Jan. 4, so the students and staff of the school would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday season. They hope to see everyone at the concert.

A big congratulations goes out to everyone that won turkeys at our last turkey bingo a week ago. The next bingo evening will be on Wednesday, Dec. 21 starting at 7:15 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Come on out for all the excitement of the game. Who knows, you could be one of the lucky winners and make yourself a few extra Christmas dollars!

The next special event happening this month is the New Years' Eve dance. There will not be a Old Tyme Dance the last Sunday of this month, as instead the we will be hosting a New Years' Eve dance later in the week. So if you have not contacted Doug Haustein or John Blonski yet, do so as soon as possible. On Nov. 27, the club held their Christmas dance, which hopefully everyone enjoyed, as all these dances are great events to get to know new people and the community. So make sure you phone Doug at 403-742-3994 or John at 403-574-2197 immediately as you will not want to miss out the New Years' Eve Dance.

The arena is now open for your enjoyment, so make sure you go down there or phone the arena and find out the yearly family fee. It can either be purchased right there at the arena or you could mail the payment to Box 123 Botha, AB T0C 0N0. The hours of operation is everyday except school days from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. and for school days from 3-9 p.m. So get out and enjoy all the fun on the ice.

The last quilting day for this year was last Monday, Dec. 12, and the quilting club would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. They hope to see everyone join them them at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 9. These are held at the Botha Senior Centre and everyone is welcome to join them.

Make sure you head over to the Village Office at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22. These are very important meetings and its important everyone attends.

Old Man Winter decided to hit us all hard with freezing temperatures last Monday with a strong cold wind, which still continues. But looking on the bright side next Wednesday, Dec. 21 is the shortest day of daylight we have, then the daylight will start getting longer which is great. So hopefully everyone stays warm. I heard this cold spell is the coldest we've had in the last two years, so who knows what else Old Man Winter has in store for us.
