HALKIRK HERALD -- Tiana Gamroth recently returned from a 22-day stay in Cosumel, Mexico where she took a Biology course. Tiana, who is going into Grade 12 at Gus Wetter High, travelled with a group of 44 students through a program offered by the Blyth Academy. The students had a choice of English, Chemistry or Biology. The group stayed at the Casa Del Mar hotel and were allowed to go into town during the day as well as attend optional organized excursions. One night, her class got to go to a protected park to watch a turtle lay eggs, and also go to two nests to watch as baby turtles hatch and then lead them down to the ocean. During her stay, Tiana went snorkelling and took a trip to Chichen Itza, which are Mayan ruins.
