Dads, graduates earn special spring attention

Hopefully, everyone had a relaxing and memorable long Victoria Day weekend.

Hopefully, everyone had a relaxing and memorable long Victoria Day weekend. The weather conditions that started out Saturday were a little weird, with sun, rain, snow and rain again, but other than that, it was a good weekend.

It looks fine now, with the green leaves starting to appear, and farmers working up their land getting ready to plant again.

This Thursday will be exciting for all ECS students in Botha. That’s the day that all students are bringing their dads, uncles and grandpas to Dads’ Night Out. It sounds like a great evening for all.

This coming Sunday is also shaping up to be an exciting day. McKenzie Hankins will celebrate another birthday. Happy birthday, McKenzie … hope you have a great day.

On the same Sunday, come on out for an exciting, fun-filled afternoon with the Old-time Dance Club. The dance starts at 1:30 p.m. Randy Jones and Reflections will be the entertaining band for that afternoon.

It’s the second-last dance until the fall, so make sure you put your dancing shoes on and come out for one great afternoon.

Also, just a reminder that the club has a potluck meal, so make up one of your favourite dishes and bring it along with you.

The final dance until the fall will be Friday, June 8, so mark your calendars for that occasion.

The Botha community is looking for a playground co-ordinator for the summer months.

As parents, if you have any ideas you would like to see implemented in the village, or other programming suggestions, contact Lorraine at 403-742-1155 or email her at jlhankins@xplornet.com.

This Saturday is one big and exciting time for all Grade 12 students. It’s a day they have been looking forward to for a long time — graduation day.

We would like to wish all grads good luck on your final departmental exams, and as you walk out those school doors the final day, good luck at all your endeavours throughout life. Congratulations.

Coffee is on every Wednesday morning, starting at 10 o’clock, and carpet bowling is held at 1:30 p.m. the same day.

On Thursday evenings, starting at 7 o’clock, floor curling is on the activity calendar. Everyone is invited out to all of those three activities.

Every second Tuesday, starting at 7:15 p.m., Early Bird Bingo is on tap in Botha. So grab your Bingo dabbers and come on out the evening of June 5. Who knows — you could be taking home some extra coin that night.

Church services run until the end of June, each Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. All are invited to come out and worship with the congregation, with Rev. Susan Bowyer officiating.

Botha Community Centre is also looking for volunteers to take part at the Red Deer Casino. If you have some spare time and can volunteer on Aug. 24 or 25, organizers would appreciate your help.

For more information or to offer to volunteer some casino time, contact Lorraine at 403-742-1155 or 403-742-3937.

Thank you.
