Cribbage tournament at Heritage Place on June 7

GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS — Mother’s Day was celebrated in Gadsby on Saturday, May 13 with “Tea and Treats for Moms.”

Mark your calendars, as on Wednesday, June 7, there will be a cribbage tournament at Heritage Place (old church) in Gadsby, starting at 1 p.m. Singles, couples or a car load, everyone is welcome.

Then the following day at Heritage Place at 2 p.m., the County of Stettler, in conjunction with the Village of Gadsby, will be presenting, in honour of Senior’s week, a fruit tray; coffee will be served and again and everyone is welcome to join us.

Westwoods Ag Society is having a potluck picnic supper at the Ag building to celebrate Farmer’s Day. This will take place on Sunday, June 11, at 5 p.m. There will be old-fashion games for the kids.

Stan and Gloria Diegel helped granddaughter Jinger celebrate her birthday on Friday night, May 12 with a family supper attended by Wade and Ybiett Diegel and family, Arden and Deanne and girls, hosted by Richelle and Greg Skocdopole and family. The highlight of the supper was the Unicorn birthday cake made and decorated by mom Richelle.

Fred and Velvet Entwisle headed to Kimberley, B.C. for three days with Velvet’s parents as well as many other family members. Prior to this, Velvet’s niece Veronica visited from Tuesday to Friday.

Sincere sympathies to Yvonne Coleman and family on the passing of her youngest daughter Loralee Coleman after a short battle with cancer. Loralee was raised in the Westwoods district, took her schooling in Gadsby and moved to Stettler several years ago where she worked at A&W. Loralee attended Sunday School at Westwoods as well and participated in the community for many years. There was a family memorial time at the Stettler Legion on Sunday, May 14, burial in the Gadsby Omega Cemetery. Loralee was 57 years of age.
