We extend sincere sympathies to the McKay and Merchant families on the passing of Margaret Merchant, nee McKay who was born and raised north of Gadsby in the Westwoods District, one of twelve children born to Archie and Martha McKay. When her mother passed away Margaret lived with her sister Mary and Elmer Smith (he taught school at Willow Park, north and west of Gadsby), Margaret went to Normal School and taught school until she retired in 1987. Her husband of 44 years, Don Merchant, passed away in 1995. She remained on the farm in Coronation until her passing. Margaret was 86 years young. Nephew Doug and Shirley McKay presented their gift of music at the funeral.
