Byemoor was a busy place on the weekend, with both hockey and curling action happening. The Central Alberta Selects AA hockey team out of Lacombe met the Medicine Hat AA team in Byemoor at the Endmoor Arena on Saturday with a good number of spectators enjoying the game.

The Byemoor Farmer’s Bonspiel wrapped up at the Byemoor Curling Rink on Saturday with 12 teams participating. Bonspiel champs were the team of Derek Krywcun winning the ‘A’ Event over the Al Hampton team. Both teams were from Rumsey.

‘B’ Event winners were the J. D. Johnson team of Halkirk winning over the John Schofer team of Byemoor. ‘C’ Event was battled out between two Stettler teams with the winners being the Crop Management team over the Jamie Kobi team.

A roast beef banquet and presentation of prizes concluded the bonspiel. The next bonspiel will be the Byemoor Mixed Bonspiel to close the season, running Feb. 28 – March 2. Phone your entries to Eugene Nixon at 403-742-9616 or Justin Jones at 403-741-6784.

Sunday saw more hockey action at the Endmoor Arena with the Endmoor U9 team playing Spruce View and the Endmoor U11 team playing Oyen. The young players have lots of supportive fans.

Congratulations to Paige and Memphis Jones, the mother-son duo who won the Family Team Roping event in Stettler on Feb. 3 following the Junior Rodeo at the Stettler Ag. Society. Great job, Page and Memphis.

Eileen Green was joined by many family and friends at a come-and-go social held in her honour at Points West Living in Stettler on Feb. 4 to celebrate her 95th birthday. Congratulations on your special milestone, Eileen.

Jane Kobi was the guest of honour at a surprise birthday party held at the Tees Community Hall on Feb. 3 to celebrate her 75th birthday. We wish you many more happy occasions, Jane.

The Byemoor community and surrounding areas are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Jamie Harden in Arizona at the age of 39 years. The Harden family lives on the former Helm farm west of Byemoor. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Jamie’s husband Josh and their three young children, her sister Jenn (Clay) Bunney, also of Byemoor, and other family members and friends in their incredibly sad loss.

Church at Endiang Shrove Tuesday pancake supper is on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at the Endiang Community Hall from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy a delicious meal of sausages, eggs and pancakes with great toppings. Admission is by donation. The church is donating all money received to the Byemoor School.

Garrett and Desyane McCrindle and their young daughter Dreya enjoyed vacationing in Desyane’s homeland of Indonesia for a few weeks. It was an opportunity to visit family members and for them to meet Dreya.

Ian Campbell, Jennica Jones and son Kesler enjoyed a warm getaway to Jamaica where they enjoyed the many sights and activities Jamaica has to offer.
