It’s December already; where did the year go? Christmas will soon be upon us and with it, the annual celebrations of the season.
Many folks enjoyed the Byemoor Christmas Market and Santa Day on Dec. 2 at the Byemoor Community Hall.
Folks got the opportunity to pick up some Christmas baking, and Christmas gift items while supporting the Byemoor School which was selling hand-crafted Christmas décor. Afternoon sleigh rides courtesy of Chad Sorensen and his Hook Em Up horse-drawn rig were popular.
Santa Claus arrived, much to the delight of the little ones, to hear their wish lists and hand out candy bags along with a photo with the jolly fellow. The 50/50 draw was won by Janet Campbell and the lucky winner of the money tree raffle was Randy Schofer.
The lighting of the Christmas Lights in Endiang is taking place on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Terry Gallant has put a lot of effort into decorating her yard and the park north of the hall with Christmas lights and other hamlet residents also have some impressive light displays. Hot chocolate is being served at the Endiang Community Hall by the hall group and everyone is welcome.
The Scapa community is hosting its annual Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the Scapa Community Hall.
Santa Claus is coming and it will be a fun time for all. Everyone is welcome.
The Church of Endiang extends a warm invitation to everyone to attend its annual Christmas Carol service, “The Cathedral in the Country.” The service is on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Endiang Community Hall. Folks are welcome to bring some treats for the coffee after the service. Donations are gratefully received for the Food Banks.
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church is holding its annual Candlelight Christmas Service on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the service in this historic country church.
Endmoor Arena in Byemoor was busy on Dec. 2 as the Endmoor U9 hockey team hosted the team from Spruce View.
Byemoor Curling Club is looking for an organization or individual interested in operating the concession booth for the two 2024 bonspiels in Byemoor. The bonspiels will be on Jan. 29 – Feb. 3 and Feb. 26 – Mar. 2. Interested parties are asked to respond by Jan. 10. For more information contact Theresa at 403-741-7525.

“Santa Claus did not start out as a jolly bearded man in a red suit, that look came much later. You probably know Santa Claus came from St. Nicholas. He was the Christian bishop who gave away his large inheritance to the poor and women rescued from servitude. In Dutch, his name was Sinter Klaas, which later morphed into Santa Claus.
