Byemoor 4-H Beef Club held its well-attended public communications competition at the Endiang Community Hall on Feb. 11. 4-H public speaking teaches an important life skill that the members will use for the rest of their lives.

No matter where a member places, they are all winners by gaining this experience. There were categories for junior, intermediate and senior speakers in prepared and impromptu speeches; there were demonstrations and the Cleavers spoke as well for the experience.

The members who placed highest in their category will move on to District competition. Congratulations to these members for Junior Speeches – 1. Tulsa Smith 2. Wade Rausch. Junior Demonstrations – 1. Brielle Sorensen 2. Cole Charbonneau. Intermediate Speeches – 1. Alerie Sorensen 2. Kesler Watts. Intermediate Demonstrations – 1. Rylee Charbonneau 2. Colter Buchwitz. Senior Speeches – 1. Colter Stirling. All members did a great job.

Judges for the event were Jordanna Bosma, Michelle Hoover, Krista Jewitt, Devon Mappin, Les Stulberg and Marion Wiancko.

The Endmoor Mites hockey team hosted a team from Hanna at the Endmoor Arena in Byemoor on Feb. 11. Mark your calendars for Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. when the Endmoor U9 team hosts Oyen in Byemoor.

An online benefit has been organized to give financial support to Josh Harden and his young children Tyke, Hunter and Sadie to help cover expenses in their recent tragic loss.

The community was saddened by the sudden passing of Doris Schilling on Feb. 9 at the age of 84 years. Doris has been a lifelong resident of the Endiang community. She was one of 13 children born to Harry and Bessie Walker. Doris and her late husband Roy Schilling farmed north of Endiang where they raised their three children Rocky, Tani and Rhonda.

Doris retired to the hamlet of Endiang where she still resided at the time of her passing. Doris was always active in the community and in recent years got enjoyment tending her yard full of flowers each summer. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Our thoughts are with Doris’ children Rocky, Tani and Rhonda and their families and members of the Walker family in their sad loss.

‘Boss — You’ve been late three days this week. Do you know what that means? Employee — It’s Wednesday?”

“Did you hear about the two guys who stole a calendar? They each got six months.”
