Special birthday greetings to Joe Lang who celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Legion Senior Centre in Stettler.

GADSBY/WESTWOODS

Special birthday greetings to Joe Lang who celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Legion Senior Centre in Stettler. The centre was filled with family and friends; Gadsby and Westwoods neighbors, wishing Joe good tidings.

Sons Darrell, Duane and Dwight and family put on a program filled with history, laughter, and music (Joe himself played the drums, bringing back great memories!)

Bill and Joyce Hansel enjoyed supper and evening at niece Donna and Marcus Stadelmann’s helping Marcus celebrate his birthday. Their son Joe and daughter Bev were home as well.

Also happy birthday to Rosemary Payne and Laura Kelly-Stevenson this week.

There will be an afternoon seniors’ info presentation at the Bank Building on Friday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Cheryl Smith from FCSS will be on hand to answer any questions seniors may have. Everyone welcome. Coffee and snacks served.

Then on Saturday, Nov. 15, the monthly bingo will be held at the Bank Building. Doors open 6:30. Bingo starts 7 p.m.

The CFR Canadian finals rodeo results are in. Congratulations to Curtis Cassidy who received the CFR “High Point Aggregate” for this year. Even though his time of 3.8 in steer wrestling placed him a very close second (.2 seconds behind the winner) he had a great season and we wish him and Cody the best in the coming season.

And congratulations to 10-year-old Chloe Shingoose, who opened Wednesday’s events with the singing of O Canada. Chloe also sang at the farm show during the week of CFR in Edmonton. Chloe is the granddaughter of Betty Ann (Robinson) and John Cassidy and we like to claim her and her family as part of Gadsby. Her mother, grandparents and great grandparents all from Gadsby area.

Chloe also sang at Gadsby’s Decoration Day service in August, much to the delight of the veterans and guests.
